Aal around Aalborg: Cuddle Market today at Huset, and New to North Denmark Fair and walk to support refugees next week
It was a tough call, deciding which upcoming events to highlight. But I managed to do so. Of course, this is a luxury problem – it means that there is a lot going on in Aalborg, and that is very good news. Surely you will find something that interests you during the upcoming weekend and beyond. The Events Calendar is updated, too, so you can get an overview of all 22 events between today and next Wednesday. Have a good weekend!
Aal around Aalborg: Aalborg in red, used items sale for students, tour of Aalborg for UCN students, and more!
Looks like another gorgeous weekend. Lots of stuff going on outdoors, much of it connected to ‘Aalborg i Rødt.’ But also a lot of music-related events and student-focused activities. Have a great weekend! Events Calendar updated – but not until 30 August, when most activities were over 😦
Aal around Aalborg: street art bicycle tour, entrepreneur festival, lopper på havnen, Den Blå Festival, and more
This week’s post is a bit on the brief side of things. Life is getting busier (or, should I say, my schedule is getting fuller?) so I haven’t had as much time to devote to this post as I usually do. A couple of highlights plus a short list (summer holiday ends this weekend, at least for school children and their families, so we can expect an uptick in activities from next week) – I hope you find something below for you! The Events Calendar has been updated.
Aal around Aalborg: Oceans of Plastic – Out to Sea? at Utzon, Vikings at Lindholm Høje, and Fredagsfest i Karolinelund (plus a list of stuff happening over the next month)
So summer is really here. It’s official. We’re past 21 June. But it still feels like March. Ah well…This is my last post for a few weeks. I’ve listed numerous activities, events, concerts, and other happenings in July. Those that have been advertised up to now, anyway. I’m sure lots more will be happening while I’m away and it probably isn’t that hard to find out what, where, and when (for example, check out this website and this one.) But I’ll be back at the end of July, just in time to write something deep and profound about the Tall Ships Races, which is THE event in Aalborg of 2015. It takes place 1-4 August, in case you haven’t seen all the posters, newspaper ads, or other ads about the event…Events Calendar updated on 26/06/15.
People come to Denmark for many different reasons: to work or to study, for family, for refuge, or for love. Each person’s experience is different, and your circumstances, background, attitude, and resources, as well as a degree of luck, all play into how you view your time here, to what degree you integrate to Danish society, and how long you stay. This is a story of three job seekers from three different countries who are trying to capture in interviews and art how immigrants to Aalborg view their role in Danish society, how well integrated they consider themselves to be, and what contributes to their feeling of being integrated – or not.
Recent & upcoming: international friends events, food market, MGP 2015, tango, jazz, polar bears, student events, art, love, polar bears, free films, and more
This past week three out of four family members, including yours truly, were hit by some form of a virus. Illness seems to be norm at the moment – nearly everyone I talk to has similar stories; I guess it’s that time of the year. For those of you who have recovered (or, fortunately, not gotten sick) there are plenty of activities going on this coming weekend and week. Next week I’ll include a special sub-section of R&U dedicated to activities you can participate in during winterferien (week 8). I’m already building a list…Try to stay healthy and enjoy the coming days of sun! 🙂 (The Events Calendar has been updated as of Saturday, 7 February. I’m quite proud of the full blocks of activities coming up in the next week in Aalborg!)
Recent & upcoming: ongoing events, children’s event at library, photography, student CV/cover letter workshop, flea markets, bicycle auction, Fastelavn festivities, and much more
In my search for events to post this week, I stumbled upon three ongoing events that I thought were especially interesting for international residents (the third of those only because it’s a great opportunity to get inside the landmark historic building of Aalborg). I lead this week’s R&U with those, followed by one-off events, and a short article on parking south of Karolinelund. In other news, I’ve decided to leave the topic of weather alone, as it doesn’t really do anyone much good (you can read the forecast yourself, and probably do) and, let’s face it, how often am I right? [Events Calendar has been updated as of 3 February…]
