Aal around Aalborg: ‘Empty an Asylum Center evening,’ music, handcrafts, Nibe development meeting, markets, nude swimming, movies and a LOT more

Posted on Updated on

Wow has the events scene exploded in Aalborg! I mean, there was a lot happening over the summer, but with students back in classes and people back from holiday there is a lot of energy being put into activities, classes, performances, meetings, and the like. No highlights this week, I’m afraid – just a list of 18 events over the coming week starting tonight! Events Calendar updated as of Friday evening, 4 September…

However, I would like to highlight an event that is coming up on 16 September but for which the sign-up deadline is Sunday, 6 September:

tømSeveral hundred asylum seekers are living in Nordjylland. Elsk Aalborg, which works hard to welcome newcomers to the area – no matter who they are, has designed an initiative called ‘Empty an Asylum Center’ (Tøm et Asylcenter). The idea behind it is that individuals and families in Aalborg welcome a minimum of 2 asylum seekers into their home on Wed, 16 September for dinner. Volunteers are responsible for picking the people up at one of two locations, taking them home, sharing a meal, and returning them to the pick-up location. The whole event (from pick-up to drop-off) lasts from 18:00 to 20:30. You can find out more on the FB page and register on Elsk Aalborg’s website. A fantastic initiative – please consider joining in!
