Recent & upcoming: career fair (and training), music galore, ice cream, Year of Goat activities at library, markets, wall climbing, pancakes, cats, world workout day, and expat family event

Posted on Updated on

paradisI just realized, as I was writing the text about one of the below events (free ice cream anyone?), that this week’s R&U post marks one year since I started the weekly series. Looking back at that post (28 February, 2014) I was struck by how much the series has developed and changed – for the better, I’d like to think. I know it’s one of the things I do on this blog that attracts the most (regular) readers, which is why I save time each week to write it up. I also learn a lot about what my family and I can do each weekend. One good thing about hitting the one year mark, though: I can start to recycle text. Yeah! I think I will go get some of that free ice cream tomorrow to celebrate…[The Events Calendar has been updated!]

Shantala Subramanyam Trio present traditional music from Southern Indian tomorrow night at Huset

The bamboo flute, however, is often played only by men, and Shantala is the first prominent female artist to play the instrument. The group also includes a violin – an instrument which has gradually gained an important role in Southern Indian classical music. The two melody instruments are supported by strong rhythmic accompaniment on the Mridangam, a hand drum that is played with both hands. The concert takes place tomorrow, 28 February at 20:00 at Huset in Hasseris. Entry is kr. 80 for tickets bought beforehand or 100 kr. on the day (students: 40/60 kr., respectively.) For more information see the group’s website or a performance by them here. FB event page here. Organized by Papaya & Huset with support from the Arts Council and Aalborg Kommune.
