Aalborg Kommune recognises that not all people have access to a car or trailer with which to transport large items to the recycling compound (genbrugspladsen) on Over Kæret in Aalborg (or other such places in the kommune). Therefore, if you have a real (as opposed to artificial) Christmas tree that needs carting away, you can haul it out to the curb/street where you would normally discard small burnable items (småt brændbart) once a month (see skidt.dk for a schedule of when this happens on your street) and the kommune will pick it up. Simple! Not only that but you can also sign up to receive an email and/or SMS alerting you to when Renovation (as the pick-up service is called) will be coming so that you can make sure to get your tree out on time. I wish I had known this before this morning at around 10am, because they had already been by. Ah well – they’ll be back (in my neck of the woods, anyway) on 2 February. Please note that if you do have the means to transport a tree and want to dispose of it yourself, you can take it to the Over Kæret genbrugsplads during their opening hours (those of other gebrugsplads in the kommune are also available on the page – see left sidebar).
