As the first snow of the year falls outside, I am sitting warm and cozy in my candlelit living room. A lovely setting for writing this week’s Recent & Upcoming post. But I have to leave in a few minutes for my daughter’s daginstitution julehygge so I’m going to make this brief and return with a few more entries later today or tomorrow morning, as well as an updated Events Calendar. In the mean time, enjoy the snow while it lasts! [Events Calendar is now updated – 14/12/14]

Citizens on sick pay (sygedagpenge) will now have only one entrance to the municipality and services specific to them. On 17 December Aalborg Kommune opens a new facility for those receiving sick pay at Vesterbro 14. This means that citizens on sick pay need only go to one place, regardless of whether they need to claim their sickness benefit payment or get help from the Job Centre to return to the labour market. You can read more about the new facility and its opening hours at aalborg.dk.
Have you visited Kildeparken (where the ‘singing trees’ are located) after 15:00 lately? If not, I strongly encourage you to do so. There are dozens and dozens of lit candles there every weekday (weekends, too? I’m not sure) and they make for a beautiful scene. It’s very peaceful to stand and look out at the sea of candlelight…
